Is it me or does this new Pepsi logo look just like the Barack Obama campaign logo?
The new logo was rumored to have cost over $1,000,000 to create. Look, I’m not saying they are exactly the same, but c’mon they do look like very similar. For what it’s worth, I’ve always been a fan of the logo introduced in 1971.
I Came across a great post on the twitter blog today about the chatter within the twitter community regarding the recent acceptance speeches by McCain, Palin, Obama, and Biden.
Twitter Chatter
I find the above chart fascinating. It simply looks at the number of times each candidates name was mentioned before, during, and after their acceptance speeches. If we were to look only at raw numbers it would look like McCain and Palin dominated and clearly connected. However, if you look into what was actually said you get a much different picture. Again, data without context is dangerous.
I encourage you to do a search on twitter for the names of the candidates and see exactly what I’m talking about.
When someone has a big time strength what do you do? You attack it and make it appear to be a weakness. This latest spot from team McCain is so damn smart.
Could be one of the BEST political spots I’ve ever seen. Nice work by team McCain. Thanks to Bob Garfield for bringing this to my attention via AdAge.
My favorite quote from the users posts under the article was:
“Look, Obama is a nice guy who also seems to be very smart & well-spoken.
But him running for President is almost like a third year lawyer at a law firm asking to be made Managing Partner of the firm before being offered a partnership.”
According to MSNBC, Hillary is set to stop campaigning and endorse Barack Obama. Here’s the thing I’ve never understood about political campaign; do candidates really think people are stupid? Seriously, I have to ask. I’m pro-Hillary, which in effect makes me anti-Obama. Now that Hillary is going to endorse Obama does she really think that I’m now going to say, “well, Hillary must have had a change of hear and this Obama guy looks like a good fella. I suppose I’ll vote for him now.” There’s no way that’s going to happen.
This would be like Miller Lite, saying you know what, we’re going to stop making beer; please drink Bud Light now. No Miller fan would ever drink Bud.
Personally, I’d like to see Hillary march on, keep the party divided and make sure Obama loses. It’s never going to happen though. Oh well, such is life.
I’m pro-Hillary and anti-Obama. I’m anti-Obama to the point that I’ll vote McCain if the choices are Obama and McCain. Those feelings aside, I stumbled upon something very interesting today. It’s been said many times by the media (who have a crush on Obama) that he’s done a great job mobilizing the young and well educated. It doesn’t take a genius to know that today’s youth and the well educated are online big time.
I was checking out the Twitter profiles for Hillary and Obama today. Something really jumped out at me that showed with crystal clarity the difference between how they’ve approached those two targets. As of today, Hillary has 4,019 followers and Obama has 33,069 followers. That in its own right says a lot, but that’s not the big stat.
The big stat is that Obama is following 33,960 people and Hillary is following 0. Literally 0. That’s not an “o” that’s a ZERO. As we look at engaging people and carrying on the conversation, how can you possibly do that if you are following no one? Think about it. For each person you follow, you can engage them at almost a 1 to 1 level. Those people have followers who can see the conversation taking place and might just end up following Hillary directly.
To me, this sums up the problem with Hillary’s campaign.
No seriously…paint that shit gold. I just like saying paint that shit gold. Ok, I’ll stop saying paint that shit gold. Crap, I just said paint that shit gold again. Ok, ok, ok I’m done. So Colle+McVoy just launched a new site called PaintThatShitGold.com.
The site let’s you capture and subsequently tag just about any site out there on the web. Don’t like the IRS? That’s cool, paint that shit gold. Not a fan of Obama? Yeah, me neither…so paint that shit gold.
Not only can you tag the web, but you can listen to songs from the album and use a REAL freaking equalizer to customize the audio.
I wish I had actually worked on this project, instead of just being the guy who kept saying, PAINT THAT SHIT GOLD. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and Paint That Shit Gold!
