McCain Team Very Smart

Published by Adam under Marketing & Advertising

When someone has a big time strength what do you do?  You attack it and make it appear to be a weakness.  This latest spot from team McCain is so damn smart.

Hypocrisy of Attractive Women in Advertising

Published by Adam under Marketing & Advertising, News

AdAge published something useful.  I know, I know, well it happens from time to time :)  ”Researchers Find Thin Models Make Viewers Like Brands More, but Themselves Less.” Are we really shocked by this? I feel like it’s something we’ve known for years, but we don’t want to admit.  Personally, I think there is some value from showing thin models.

For example, according to the study, “Seeing thin models also made college-age women far more likely to turn down a snack pack of Oreo cookies offered as thanks for their participation in the study, or to opt for a reduced-fat version. Women who had just seen thin models were nearly four times more likely to say no to Oreos than women who hadn’t, and 42% more likely to opt for reduced-fat cookies if they did indulge. ”

That’s a good thing.  I know I can use a few less Oreo’s.

State Farm - Not The Good Neighbor I Thought They Were - Part X

Published by Adam under Misc., State Farm

Yes, seriously…we are on Part X and week 4.  Isn’t this getting a little ridiculous?  Part I can be found here, part II can be found here, part III can be found here, part IV can be found here, part V can be found here, part VI can be found here, part VII can be found here, part VIII can be found here, and part IX can be found here.

After my great experience with the NEW State Farm claims rep I thought we were headed towards a good experience.  Well, 3 business days passed, and still I didn’t hear from them.  So I did what I’ve continued to do; I called the body shop.  The body shop contact and I talked.  The control arm did NOT solve the problem 100%.  So now they are replacing the strut as well.  The saga continues and there does not seem to be an end in sight.

Yes, I know I’m late on this…but that still doesn’t diminish how good it is.

A Few Cora Photos From July 30, 2008

Published by Adam under Cora

I really love shooting with my Nikon D2Hs and 105mm 2.8 VR.  The 105mm is razor sharp and the D2Hs is lightening fast.  You need both to keep up with Cora.

I Love Internet Scams

Published by Adam under Funny

Just received this awesome scam letter today via email.

“Greetings

Compliments of the day to you and your family. I am very sorry to embarrass you with this email as I did not mean to intrude in your privacy if not for thepeculiar situation I have found myself. I have contacted you because I believe you have what it takes to carry out the request I seek of you. I am currently suffering from a terminal disease called Cancer and my doctors have informed me that I have a few months to live and I want to try and do something special with my life now that the end is near. Before I was diagnosed with the disease I was a very successful businessman who made a lot of money but also lived a very rough life filled with too much lust for women and more money.

In the course of my illness my family members have bled me dry of nearly all my possessions and abandoned me to my fate. I presently have no friend or family as I am all alone in this hospital.Luckily I have some money totaling Twenty Five million Five Hundred thousand us dollars($25.5Million) that I had stashed away in a finance facility somewhere in Europe and I would be willing to donate all of it to charity. All I want is for a foundation to beset up in my name so I would always be remembered for my good deeds in lifeafter I pass on. If you are willing to assist you would get a handsome percentage of the money and also a place in heaven as God would abundantly reward you.

Please get back to me ASAP so I can give you more details.

Thanks and God bless you

Remond Nelson”

Impact of GM Committing 25% of Spend to Digital

Published by Adam under Marketing & Advertising, News

According to AdAge GM is committing 25% of their 3 Billion measured spend to digital. This is exciting for several reasons. Some of which are covered in the AdAge article. Those things aside, I think there are several interesting things about this that need to be considered:

  1. As the car companies go so does everyone else.
  2. With such a massive shift the web will become overly saturated with display ads, making the need for compelling online ads much more important
  3. The price of search terms will skyrocket because there will be more people vying for the terms. SEM is a supply and demand business at the heart. This means our landing pages need to be better and optimized to convert.
  4. If our brands hold the course and don’t increase spending they’ll actually be spending the same, but getting less reach and frequency for those dollars.
  5. But the million dollar point here is that we’ll need to become smarter, more efficient, and better integrated so that we can offset the increased costs for media by being more effective.

Good stuff and lot’s of fun ahead.

The Media Is In Love With Obama

Published by Adam under Funny, Marketing & Advertising, News

Could be one of the BEST political spots I’ve ever seen. Nice work by team McCain. Thanks to Bob Garfield for bringing this to my attention via AdAge.

My favorite quote from the users posts under the article was:

“Look, Obama is a nice guy who also seems to be very smart & well-spoken.

But him running for President is almost like a third year lawyer at a law firm asking to be made Managing Partner of the firm before being offered a partnership.”
